The Sanctuary – An Explanation
Firstly: It is shaped in the form of a ‘hand’, a reminder of the ‘Hand of God’ which is curved in blessing over everyone. The upper part of the sanctuary points outwards and upwards; this signifies that it embraces everyone and directs us towards our heavenly home. The base is also curved to emphasize that we are in the palm of God's hand. The whole area is formed by curved lines which draw the eyes towards it as God gently draws us into communion with himself. The curved lines are softer, more graceful and express gentle movement. They have a calming effect and lead us to prayer.

Secondly: The design of the sanctuary could also be an image of Our Lady watching over her children, assuring us of her motherly love and protection in our journey through life.

Designer: - Cecilio Luciano www.ceciliofurniture.com.dinstudio.co.uk

“Whatever you do to the Least…”
Jesus teaches us that to love is sometimes difficult
God took the initiative and loved us first
When we were anything but lovable
(Because we were dead through sin)
So God invites us to take the initiative
To love those we find hard to love
Those who are ‘Least’ in our eyes
The people we look down on…
Those we think are wasting our time…
Those who have let us down…
The ones we would like to avoid…
The people who annoy us…
Those who have spoken badly of us…
The one who was once our friend and now…
Our unpleasant next door neighbour …
Yes all these are ‘the Least’
The ones we find difficult to love
What we do to the least we do to God
So let us love each one as ‘the Least’
without looking to see if they are lovable or not
So we can see the ‘face’ of Christ in them all
Because they are the one's most in need of God's love.

Volunteers urgently needed for the Eucharistic Congress
The 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 will take place in Dublin from 10th to 17th June 2012. Between 2 and 3 thousand volunteers will be needed during the week The Congress is now recruiting volunteers for a wide range of roles such as stewards, administration, data entry, marketing, transport, and much more! We need 10 people per parish from the Dublin diocese.

Parish Benefit Night
Thanks to all who came along to our benefit night to raise funds for the new church on Saturday. Unfortunately the venue was changed again last Monday to the Roadstone Club. We had a lovely evening and had many raffle prizes. We’ll let you know later how much we made for the church. Again sincere thanks to one and all.
