In our grandparents time there was balance.
During daylight hours they worked hard, in the evening there was no light, they sat by the fire, watched the flames of the fire, and chatted with neighbours who were visiting. When they went to bed they slept. Life was more simple.
Now we have 24 hour light and heat, shopping and internet communication. It's easy to get caught up in “doing” and “thinking”. It can be difficult to stop.
Mindfulness is about “stopping”. It teaches us “to be”. Simplicity is the key. The Family Centre at Chapel St., Castlebar are running a three session programme to learn mindfulness and relaxation starting on September 15th next. The programme is presented by Derval Dunford.
