CRAFT GROUP MEETINGS.
We meet regularly in Glencorrib / Kilroe Community Centre. We bring whatever craft we like (e.g. cards, knitting, crochet) with us to work on for the evening, chat, share ideas & have a cuppa. Meetings are informal. New attendees always welcome. €2-3 pp per night to cover hall / heating costs. Next meeting October 11th @ 8pm.

Do you ever look around your farm or workshop and see all the waste Scrap metal laying all around. Then this notice is for you. A waste scrap metal collection fundraiser event will take place on Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd October. PLAY GROUND & AMENITY WALK:
Moyne Villa FC are holding a fundraising draw to raise funds for a playground and amenity walk which is currently under construction on its grounds in Headford. They hope that this project will be completed by late October. This will provide a state-of-the-art playground and a fully lit walking track for the surrounding areas. They will be holding a huge fundraiser in the coming weeks. Raffle tickets will be sold at €10 each. Ticket holders will be in with a great chance of grabbing great prizes! Including Laptops and IPads! Your support would be very much appreciated. Tickets can be bought in the clubhouse and will be sold around Headford in the coming weeks!! October 30th 12:00pm - 3:00pm

FEAST DAYS OF THE WEEK – THE LIVES OF THE SAINTS
Mon 3rd Oct ST. CLARE OF ASSISI (Italy) 1194-1253.
Founded the Order of Poor Ladies (Poor Clares) and led it for 40 years. Once when her convent was about to be attacked, she displayed the Sacrament in a monstrance at the convent gates, and prayed before it; the attackers left. Towards the end of her life, when she was too ill to attend Mass, an image of the service would display on the wall of her cell; thus her patronage of television. She was a close friend of St. Francis. Patron of television, telephones, eyes and good weather

Tue 4th Oct ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI. (Italy) 1182-1226.
Serving as a soldier he was captured during a conflict and he spent over a year as a prisoner of war. During this time he had a conversion experience. Upon release, Francis began taking his religion seriously. He dressed in rough clothes, begged for his sustenance, and preached purity and peace. His family disapproved, and his father disinherited him; He visited hospitals, served the sick, preached in the streets, and took all men and women as siblings. "Leave all and follow me." Wed 5th Oct ST. MARY FAUSTINA KOWALSKA. (Poland) 1905-38.
Born into a large family. Spent three years in school. Served as a servant girl. She became a nun. She received a message of mercy from Jesus that she was told to spread throughout the world. Jesus asked that a picture be painted of him with the inscription: "Jesus, I Trust in You." She was asked to be a model of mercy to others. She commissioned this painting in 1935, showing a red and a white light shining from Christ's Sacred Heart. Inspired the Divine Mercy movement.

Thu 6th Oct ST. BRUNO. (Germany) 1035-1101.
Taught Theology. One of his students later became Blessed Pope Urban II. Criticized the worldliness he saw in his fellow clergy. He founded what became the first house of the Carthusian Order; he and his brothers supported themselves as manuscript copyists. Patron of possessed people.

Fri 7th Oct OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY:
The original title of the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. On Sunday 7th October 1571 combined Christian fleets under Don John of Austria achieved a significant naval victory over the Turks in the Straits of Lepanto. Thousands of Christians were liberated, the Turkish fleet was destroyed, and they suffered their first great defeat at sea. In gratitude to God and Our Lady, Pope St. Pius V ordered an annual commemoration to be made of Our Lady of Victory. It was renamed as Most Holy Rosary since it victory was won through invocation of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Born wealthy and raised Christian. Martyred in the persecutions of emperor Maximian. His story was extremely popular in the Middle Ages. Reported to have appeared during a battle in 586, two centuries after his death, to help defend Thessalonika. Over 200 churches in the Balkans are known to have been dedicated to him.
