Dates and times for Confirmation and Communion: Confirmation: Swinford, April 10th –1.30 pm, Communion: 11 am in all Churches –Swinford Church on 7th May, Meelick Church 14th May and Midfield Church 15th May.
The Bishop has asked: that in all Churches in the diocese the collection at Mass be taken up by adults, not the Altar Servers. So we are asking for volunteers for this task in Meelick and Midfield Churches and others to join those who already help with the collections in Swinford. If interested, please give your name to one of the priests.
Eucharistic Congress 2012: Ireland will host the International Eucharistic Congress in 2012. It is a special event in the life of the Church and an invitation to all of us to reflect on the central place of the Eucharist in our own lives. You will find pamphlets about preparation for the Congress at the back of the church and we ask you to bring one home, read it and reflect on it. As part of the preparation in our diocese, there will be two talks on the Eucharist in Swinford Church –on Monday February 28th and Monday, April 4th at 8 pm. The talks will be given by Sr. Moya Hegarty OSU and all are invited to attend.
Booking Masses: If you would like to arrange to have a Mass said or checked for an intention, please call to or ring the Parish Office -094 9251131 on Monday, Tuesday or Friday between 9.30 am and 3 pm, or speak to one of the priests in the sacristy after any Mass.
Citizens Information Centre: Will hold an outreach on Wednesday February 23rd 2011 at the Mayo North East Office, The Enterprise Centre, Charlestown from 9.45 am to 11.30 am. Midfield Development Association: Will be taking part in this years St Patrick's Day parade. We are inviting all local businesses to participate in our themed entry, it promises to be very enjoyable and there shall not be any cost involved. West of Ireland Women's Mini Marathon: Midfield Development are once more going to participate in this Marathon to be held on Sunday May 1st. We already have some volunteers but are looking for more people to volunteer. Last year's marathon proved to be a lot of fun and successful. If you are interested please contact us for further details. Our next meeting shall be held on Monday 7th March at 9 pm in Midfield National School.
Irish Cancer Society: Are holding a coffee morning and cake sale in the Gateway Hotel on the 25th February from 9 am. All are welcome.
Midfield Group Water Scheme: Will hold their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday the 23rd February at 9 pm in Julian's.
Proposed Closure of Bog Road: Mayo Co Council proposes to extinguish the Public Right of Way from the L-13117 to the N5 National Primary Route. The road is more commonly know as the Bog Road and is used by the public on a regular basis. Cllr Joe Mellett explains that the closure would seriously affect the Public. Objections can be made up to April 6th 2011. All objections will then be dealt with at an Oral Hearing.
Congratulations: To Aaron McLoughlin, Derryronane who is the chosen recipient of “The Western People Marital Arts Award 2010” for outstanding achievements in the sport. Aaron will be presented with this award in the McWilliam Park Hotel on the 25th February.
25 Card Game: in aid of Killasser Community Care will be held on Monday 21st February at 8.30 pm. There is a prize fund of €500.
St Patrick's Day: Plans are well advanced for the 60th St Patrick's Day Parade. However, the issue of having a festival around the event has received little support. If any business person is interested in the promotion of the town please contact John Kennedy or Joe Mellett.
