Do you know where the switches are? Jesus says ‘people prefer darkness to light.’ He didn’t say people prefer evil to goodness, so what is He on about? To say ‘she/he just doesn’t want to know’ implies refusal and rejection. That's the problem as Jesus sees it. People couldn’t care less. They don’t want to learn. Their option for ignorance results in evil. Jesus says that's no excuse. They refuse to use the talents God gave - senses, brains, intelligence, and memory (sin of idleness). They ignore the many opportunities to learn (sin of sloth), and reject God's invitations (deadly sin?). The choice is theirs and so is the decision. They alone are responsible for the consequences. Prayer is checking one is sufficiently wired as to be realistic about the dangers of darkness! A desert traveller woke up hungry one night, lit a candle, and began eating apples. He took a bite from one and saw a worm in it; so he threw it away. He took a bite from another, found another worm, and threw it away too. Reasoning that he‘d have no apples left, if he continued to look for worms, he blew out the candle, and quickly ate the rest of the apples! He didn’t die from hunger, but he wasn’t around for long! There are none in worse darkness than those who don’t want to learn! Could you imagine a worse evil than a self-inflicted power-cut - off from God? The Good News is - the reconnection is free. But remember before losing faith one first loses interest.

The Family of the late John Courtney, Drumnagrella, wish to thank all those who contributed so generously to the Diabetic Association. The total amount raised was €1950.00, which will be used in the North East Region.

Garment of Suffering:
We all carry suffering or hurt in our lives, present or past. Our Parish Garment of Suffering will symbolise this personal and community suffering. During Lent, we invite you to place a piece of cloth of any colour, about 5 inches square - representing your pain, grief, scars, hurtful memories, personal, family or communal wounds - in the basket in the church porch. It maybe the pain addiction inflicts on so many, failure, sickness/disease, separation, relationship conflicts, emigration, misunderstanding, money worries, unemployment, etc. These pieces of cloth will be sewn into a complete garment. On Good Friday, this special garment will be placed in a prominent place in the sanctuary until Pentecost. Every time we come together as Parish, our symbolically visible shared worries, sufferings, and pain, will inspire us to pray for healing for one another. Please God, our pieces of cloth will bring reassurance and prove therapeutic.

Understanding and Praying Scripture every Monday night from 8.30 – 9.30pm in the room behind the sanctuary. We will listen and pray together. The power of God's Word to heal, strengthen, and give life is available to all. Come and learn to be open to the gifts of God's Word. All are welcome. You can come or leave at any time during the prayer.


Healing Service and Anointing of the Sick led by Fr. Noel Conlon, in Mary Mother of Mercy Church, Inniskeen on Thursday 22nd March at 7.00pm. Pray for all who will attend this celebration.

St Patrick's Parade Patrick Kavanagh Country, Inniskeen, St. Patrick's 2nd Annual Parade is being held this year on Monday March 19 at 1.30pm sharp. All participating Floats, Vintage Machinery/Tractors, High Nellies, Clubs, etc etc are asked to assemble at the Grattan's GAA Grounds, Kednaminsha, commencing 12 noon. Trade Stands in the School Grounds, Inniskeen Village, same as last year. Everything and Everyone is welcome to come along and participate. Great fun for all the Family. HAPPY FACES DAY The event is a nationwide effort run by the IPPA ( Irish Professional Photographers Association). 100% of money raised goes to charity.This year it is to help the Jack & Jill Foundation, which gives nursing assistance to terminally ill children in the home. All money raised in Monaghan will stay in Monaghan to help families in the County. The dates we are running the event are as follows; Castleblayney, Glencarn Hotel.
