Carran Walkers say Happy Christmas

Posted on: 16 December, 2010

Carran Walkers would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and invite you to make a New Year resolution to walk more. Have a look below and see if there's anything that looks interesting.

The club's first-Sunday (Dec) outing had to be “adjusted” because of road conditions (snow and ice) in getting to the proposed site – Knockvicar. Instead members walked from Ballyfarnon to Kilronan Castle and along part of Lough Meelagh shoreline. The day was perfect- calm with bright winter sunshine reflecting off the snow and the track underfoot was crunchy. Lough Meelagh appeared to be completely frozen something most members could never recall seeing before.

The next walk will be on St Stephen's Day and is planned for Staunton's Brae\Ballyfarnon area. Meet as usual at Geevagh Church car park at 10.30hrs.

The January walk will be on the second Sunday (the 9th) and is a continuation of the Miner's Way Project - Lough Key Forest Park to Boyle.

The first "Full Mooon" Walk is scheduled for January 19th, weather permitting, of course.
