An Easkey native who has been following Sligo Rovers for 60 years has been honoured by the club. Bit O’ Red fan Paddy Kilcullen age 84 from Kileenduff was presented with a ‘Life long Supporter’ award by Sligo Rovers promotion officer Keith O’ Dwyer at a function held in the Fisherman's Weir recently. Present at the function were his family and friends. The FAI Ford Cup was also brought to the event as part of the Rovers series of visits to schools and communities.

The death has taken place of Philomena Lavelle nee Dooney , Kileenduff, Easkey . Her remains were removed from Sweeney's funeral home to St James Church and burial took place in Roslea cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her daughters Esther and Josephine , sons Sean and Christy and other family members.

Easkey GAA will hold a Variety Concert, which will be a showcase for all the wonderful local talent in the area. The concert will take place on Saturday December 17, at 8pm in Easkey Community Centre. Refreshments will be served and a raffle will take place. Owenbeg National School intend to provide new parking spaces at the school and have applied for planning permission. It is planned to provide eight parking spaces , a footpath and new wall.

Students at Leaffoney National School, Kilglass have won a FiS Film award for the soundtrack of their film entitled “We go Eco” dealing with environmental issues , such as global warming and energy. In their five minutes of film the pupils looked at how waste water is treated and the idea of using a biodigester in a domestic setting as a clean and efficient way of producing energy in a form of biogas. The students received their award at a ceremony in the Helix at D. C.U. recently

St Farnans ladies GAA. will hold an underage presentation in Dromore West community centre on December 28 and the annual dinner dance will be held at the end of January in the Ocean Sands Hotel.
The Park Committee have commenced rehearsals for a three act play which will be staged in Dromore West community centre in the first week in February. All proceeds will go towards the continuing development of the park.

The National Learning Network is currently recruiting a limited number of participants for this innovative new training programme in the sports and leisure industry, designed to promote career opportunities for people with disabilities in this sector.
