MONTHLY CLEAN UP CONTINUES
Riverstown Village Enhancement Association would like to thank all the users of the Riverstown playground who have been getting involved with the monthly clean ups of the playground, ballcourt and picnic area. The next clean up will take place on Tuesday, July 19 from 7pm onwards. If you can’t make that one the following cleanup will take place on Saturday, August 6 from 10am onwards. If possible bring brushes, shovel, gloves etc. Strimmer operators are more than welcome.

MORRISON FESTIVAL
The 19th Annual James Morrison Traditional music Festival will run from Friday, July 29 to Sunday July 31. Opening Reception will take place in the Community Hall at 8pm followed by the Commemorative Concert at 9pm also in the Hall. Saturday's events begin with an art workshop with Gordon Darcy in the Morrison Teach Ceoil from 11am to 12.30pm. The Festival Parade will take place at 3pm. Workshops will take place from 3 to 5pm. For more information on the workshops contact Sean Lyons on 071 9165880. James Morrison Memorial, Drumfin, Musical Tribute will take place at 6pm. The Commemorative address will be given by Seamus MacMathuna at Morrison Teach Ceoil at 7.45pm. A Singing Session with Cathal Lynch will take place from 8 to 9.30pm venue tbc. Saturday night's Ceili on the Diamond at 10pm will feature music by the All New Moylurg Ceili group. Sunday will start with Aifreann Na Feile in Riverstown at 12.30pm. Sunday afternoon on the Diamond from 3pm to 5pm will feature the Loughed Ceili Band. Symposium in the Teach Ceoil honouring the life and times of Eugene Nellany of Collooney will take place at 7pm. Finish the weekend at Sunday Night's Ceili on the Diamond with music by the Swallows Tail Ceili Band.

GASLAND
The gas drilling about to begin here in the northwest is controversial and thought by many to be quite a treat to health, livestock and the environment. There will be a showing of the film ‘Gasland’ at 8.30pm on July 20 in Gleann Hall, followed by an informational discussion. Come and see the film and form your own opinion.

ARROW HARPS REGISTRATION
Arrow Harps FC are holding a registration evening on Sunday, July 24 in Riverstown Community Park. All children born in the years 2000, 2001 and 2002 who wish to play soccer for the club next season should attend at 7.30PM while those born in the years 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 should attend at 8pm. Everybody who wishes to register must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The registration fee will be €50. This fee will cover all costs associated with training and league matches within the Sligo Leitrim Youth League. Any queries, please contact Brendan at 087-7786956.

FUNDRAISING EVENT
To develop 4 acres of a community field in the heart of Ballygawley a fundraiser will be held on Sunday, August 21 in Castledargan Hotel from 5pm onwards. There will be activities for kids. The Conquerors will headline the event. There will be a free Barbeque and the election of the first ever Ballygawley Mayor.

SUMMER SCHOOL
Carmel Gunning Summer School of Music will run from August 1 to August 5 in the Glasshouse Hotel, Hyde Bridge, Sligo. Music and singing sessions will be held in the Snug Bar, Stephen Street on Tuesday, August 2 and Friday, August 5 with special guests Andrew NcNamara and Treasa Ni Cheannabhain. LABOUR MEETING
The South Sligo Branch of the Labour Party will hold a meeting in Teeling Centre Collooney on Thursday, July 21 at 7.30pm. Topics on the agenda will include Michael D Higgins presidential bid. Everyone is most welcome to the meeting.

SEISIUN TIME IN GURTEEN
Every Wednesday and Saturday night for July & August, the best of traditional music, song and dance can be enjoyed in Ceolaras Coleman, Gurteen at 9pm. Wednesday night's shows features ‘Ceoltoiri Coleman’. This two hour show with an interval and a complimentary tea or coffee costs €10. Group rates are available. The Coleman Centre is open daily from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and comprises Visitor Centre, music exhibition and archive as well as a retail outlet.
