On Monday, 3rd May the Junior A Hurlers played Cappamore in Round 2 of the East League in Newgarden. Ahane started much the better side and with the help of an early Diarmuid McCarthy goa, went on to dominate the first half and lead at half time by 1 8 to 0 5. Cappamore came much more into the game in the second half and had levelled at 1 11 each with 5 minuites to go, but a Davy Troy goal and a late Richard Ryan point saw Ahane win what was a very enjoyable and sporting game by 2 12 to 1 11. On Tuesday, 4th May the Senior hurlers played Round 3 of the East Senior Hurling Championship against Murroe Boher in Murroe. Being short a number of regulars due to injuries, the selectors gave senior starts to 3 of our Minor hurlers and it proved to be the major decision that fashioned a much needed morale boosting victory with the County Championship approaching. The first half was a fast open game with some excellent point scoring by both teams. Half time score Murroe Boher 0 10, Ahane 0 8. The second half started with an Ahane goal from Dan Morrissey in the first minute. This set the trend for the second half which saw Ahane score 5 goals, one more for Dan Morrissey, one for John Meskell and two for Richard Ryan. It was easily our best performance of the year so far with much better team play resulting in good scores. Hopefully, the team can build on this performance for the forthcoming championship matches. The Final score was Ahane 5 13, Murroe Boher 0 17.

La na gClub was again a huge success and the fine weather ensured a great turnout for the afternoon activities in the field. Many thanks to Fr. Kyne for a really special Mass in Ahane and to all the people who gave their assistance in making the day so enjoyable.
